Request for DCOE Medical Student Community Project Proposals

The Diversity Center of Excellence of the Cornell Center for Health Equity is pleased to invite applications for community project proposals from WCM medical students!

Funding can be used to support existing programs or new programs that serve NYC individuals and communities, particularly low-income, underserved, and minority communities, and promote community health, education, health access and equity.

Sample projects can address health care delivery to the underserved, can include health fairs, community health screenings, educational programs for youth or the elderly, public health outreach initiatives, immigrant and refugee related projects, projects addressing social determinants of health, projects addressing vaccine equity, birth equity, children’s health and well-being; supporting LGBTQ individuals and groups, and mentoring programs. Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to collaborate with community-based organizations. We are happy to discuss ideas or help to link students with community groups.

Guidelines:
Eligible Applicants: can include medical student teams or medical student clubs, organizations, or new groups based at WCM.
Applicants must submit a final project report and present on their projects at the Cornell Center for Health Equity symposium.
Each applicant team or group must have a faculty advisor.

Funding:
Budgets for awards are limited to $1,500 total direct costs and can be used to support supplies and costs of patient/community incentives/honoraria.
