Community Engagement and Partnerships

In order to address health inequities, the Diversity Center of Excellence strongly believes in community collaborations.  Initial partners of the Diversity Center of Excellence included Womens Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco) and East Harlem School. Since 2018, we have partnered with numerous organizations throughout the New York City metro area.

With DCOE support, the Weill Cornell Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) and MD-PhD students organized an afternoon of educational programming on May 12, 2022, for second graders part of one of the DCOE’s community partner Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco) afterschool program. The future looks bright thanks to student volunteers, especially MD-PhD student Miguel Chavez Pachas for organizing a successful program to introduce youth to medicine as a pathway.
